We provide inpatient coverage at Willis-Knighton South and the Center for Women's Health for all children including newborns and see only newborns at WK Pierremont Health Center. We are able to admit to dedicated pediatric floors and a pediatric ICU for critically ill children.

Willis-Knighton uses a multidisciplinary approach to evaluate and treat children for a variety of diagnoses . Upon referral from a physician, formal evaluations are completed, and individual treatment plans are developed to create an integrated and comprehensive plan. Children, parents and therapists work together to establish treatment goals and coordinate services with the school system when necessary.
Pediatric rehabilitation therapists evaluate newborns, infants and children to determine if any developmental delays are present. If problems are found, an individualized treatment plan is implemented to begin the developmental therapy process.
Young infants feed primarily by sucking. While this is extremely efficient, the process involves a very complex interaction of multiple systems. The infant must coordinate the suck, swallow and breathing skills while managing neurobehavioral states.
