We’re proud to announce that Comprehensive Psychiatric Associates is now part of Child & Family Psychological Services family of behavioral health services. If you are interested in learning more about Child & Family Psychological Services, please visit our About Us page.
Whether you need support with everyday issues or if you need help with a traumatic life event such as a loss, we can help you here at Comprehensive Psychiatric Care. We provide psychotherapy, medication management, TMS treatment and clinical research services to those looking for mental health care.
CPC is able to offer diagnostic assessments, and we have provided documentation for patients upon request. Individual therapy is used to treat mental health conditions including anxiety, depression, OCD, ADHD (Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder), ADD (Attention Deficit Disorder), Mood Disorder, PTSD, and spectrum disorders.
A comprehensive psychiatric evaluation may be needed to diagnose emotional, behavioral, or developmental disorders. An evaluation of a child, adolescent, or adult is made based on behaviors present and in relation to physical, genetic, environmental, social, cognitive (thinking), emotional, and educational parts that may be affected as a result of these behaviors.
Psychiatric interview. Personal and family history of emotional, behavioral, or developmental disorders. Complete medical history, including description of the person's overall physical health, list of any other illnesses or conditions present, and any current treatments.
Evaluation may include: Description of behaviors (like when do the behaviors happen, how long does the behavior last, what are the conditions in which the behaviors most often happen) Description of symptoms (physical and psychiatric symptoms) Effects of behaviors or symptoms related to: Work performance. School performance.
The primary healthcare provider or mental health practitioner will address questions and provide reassurance by working with you to establish long-term and short-term treatment goals for your loved one.
Effects of behaviors or symptoms related to: Relationships and interactions with others (like spouse, coworkers, family members, or neighbors) Personal and family history of emotional, behavioral, or developmental disorders.
Certain entities including the states of Illinois, New Mexico, and Louisiana as well as in the Public Health Service, the U.S. military, and Guam do allow appropriately-trained clinical psychologists to prescribe medication, but with certain limitations.
A psychiatrist is an M.D., which makes them qualified to provide prescriptions. These professionals are also trained in how to provide psychotherapy, although more and more psychiatrists are opting to concentrate on the medical aspects of treatment, preferring to instead refer their patients to another mental health professional to address the psychological aspects of their illness.
Begin first by checking the psychiatrists listed here nearest to you. If they are limited in number, expand out your search geographically (Broaden your Search) and see who's available further afield. Use the links in the left nav bar to find the relevant insurance, if you intend to use your health insurance to pay for the provider.
As part of a clinical assessment, Psychiatrists may conduct physical examinations, take blood tests, and order and interpret lab tests and brain image scans, such as CT scans, CAT Scans and MRIs.
Comprehensive Psychological Services, PC (CPS) is a psychological clinic committed to the provision of clinical services by a group of highly trained professionals.
CPS was founded in July 1984. Each member of CPS is licensed by the State of Michigan in his or her field of training, and is an independent consultant with CPS. The clinical staff at CPS is made up of Psychologists and Social Workers.
Your email will go straight to the psychiatrist. Please keep it fairly short (i.e. less than 200 words). A confirmation copy will be emailed to you.
Psychology Today does not read or retain your email. However, a copy will be sent to you for your records. Please be aware that email is not a secure means of communication and spam filters may prevent your email from reaching the therapist. The therapist should respond to you by email, although we recommend that you follow up with a phone call. If you prefer corresponding via phone, leave your contact number.
If you have any further questions about the services that CPC offers, please contact the office at 860.886.1508.
Usually patients will want to know if they meet the criteria for a specific diagnosis, and if so, there is interest in hearing recommendations for treatment. CPC is able to offer diagnostic assessments, and we have provided documentation for patients upon request.
