The Neurosurgery physicians offer diagnosis, treatment and surgery for diseases and injuries to the brain, spinal cord, peripheral nerves and muscles in both adult and pediatricpatients. Treatment encompasses both non-operative management (prevention, diagnosis-including image interpretation-and treatment such as, neurocritical intensive care, brain and spinal cord injury and rehabilitation) and operative management with its associated image use and interpretation. The operative treatment of braindisorders includes surgery for head trauma, the excision and biopsy of brain tumors, surgical procedures involving both the intraand extra cranial vascular supply to the brain, pituitary surgery, epilepsy surgery and surgery requiring computer-assisted stereotactic localization of brain lesions. The neurosurgical treatment of spinal disorders includesminimally invasive spinal surgery for the treatment of disc disorders as well as complex spinal reconstructive surgeries due to spinal degeneration, previous spinal surgery, trauma and scoliosis. These complex spine surgeries often utilize instrumentation to stabilize the spine as well as computer assisted stereotaxisto aide in the correct placement of the instrumentation. In addition, spinal surgery also includes the insertion of implantable pain pumps and electrical stimulation of the nervous system for the treatment of chronic pain of multiple etiologies. Gamma Knife Radiosurgery is available for certain neurologic diseases centered in the brain.

Board certified nephrologists provide diagnosis and treatment of diseases involving the kidneys, including acute and chronic renal failure, glomerulonephritis, vasculitis and complicated cases of hypertension and electrolyte disturbances. Dialysis services for patients are available in the Billings Clinic Dialysis Center, located in the hospital, as well as at our satellite dialysis site in Sheridan, Wyoming. We have established working relationships with several transplant centers, and assist patients in preparation for kidney transplantation. We also provide ongoing care for patients following kidney transplant.
