Strong Memorial Hospital (SMH) is the primary acute care teaching hospital of the University of Rochester Medical Center (URMC). SMH is an 838-bed, fully-accredited regional referral center for Monroe County, New York, the surrounding east-west regions between Buffalo and Syracuse, and the counties to the south of Rochester, collectively known as the Finger Lakes Region. URMC comprises the School of Medicine and Dentistry, the School of Nursing, the Eastman Dental Center and SMH, all of which are housed on the Medical Center campus located adjacent to the main, or River Campus, of the University proper. SMH is geographically and administratively integrated with the School of Medicine and Dentistry and the School of Nursing, and is wholly owned by the University of Rochester.
