How do I report a safety or environmental issue?

In many instances, safety and environmental issues need to be addressed immediately to prevent injury or further damage, so we recommend you use this method as it will receive immediate attention by EHS staff. Contact the U-M Compliance Hotline to report an issue.

Complete the Incident and Near Miss Report Form for both Laboratories and Shops/Studios or incidents at all other locations involving: near misses, fires/explosions, property damage, injuries, or illnesses.

How long does a patient have to file a medical malpractice lawsuit?

If a patient is thinking about bringing suit against a doctor or hospital for medical malpractice, the patient must first alert prospective defendants of their complaints with a “notice of intent,” and both parties then have six months to consider their cases before going to court.

Is Michigan a malpractice state?

We’re fortunate to be located in Michigan, a state that passed sensible medical malpractice reform in the 1990s and is not having some of the same crisis situations as other states. Our state law, among other things, builds a six-month “cooling off” period into the malpractice lawsuit process.
