What is the medical area of Total Skin and Beauty Dermatology Center?

The medical area of the practice regularly evaluates and treats 200+ patients of all ages and skin types, daily. Common skin conditions and diseases include: acne, dermatitis, eczema, psoriasis, melasma, rosacea, vitaligo and skin tags/warts. Total Skin & Beauty Dermatology Center also serves as a secondary and tertiary referral center by many fellow dermatologists within the area.

What is superficial radiation?

Some patients may qualify for a less invasive treatment known as superficial radiation therapy. Superficial radiation delivers radiation therapy using X-rays. The beam only penetrates the surface of the skin. This type of therapy avoids deep tissue damage and minimizes scarring, particularly around the face.

How many hours a day does the Phototherapy Center operate?

Our Phototherapy Center is operational 10 hours per day, 5 days a week with three light machines (UVA/narrow band UVB, and hand/foot unit) and an XTRAC laser used to treat psoriasis, vitiligo, mycosis fungoides, and other recalcitrant skin conditions. Phototherapy/PDT at our practice is administered by a Registered Nurse for safety purposes.

Is there a laser peel for skin?

What to wear to a surgery appointment?

Wear loose fitting, comfortable clothing; a button down shirt may be a good option, to not disturb the bandages. Refrain from wearing perfume/cologne or applying makeup (if the surgery is on your face). Bring one friend or family member to your appointment to drive you home following surgery.

What happens when cancer cells are found under a microscope?

If cancer cells are found under the microscope, the surgeon returns to the patient to remove another layer of skin where the cells remain. This process is repeated until there is no evidence of cancer remaining.

Can you feel pain during a tumor removal?

The area to be treated is cleansed and injected with a local anesthetic, so you won’t feel any discomfort during the procedure. Then, the visible portion of the tumor is removed.

What lasers does Dr Monheit use?

Only two doctors were selected nationwide to compete. With only 2 months to pick a patient and rejuvenate her he had to act fast. Using only lasers and injectables she has been brought back to a younger look. Dr. Monheit chose Dysport, Radiesse, Restylane, Juvederm and Fraxel laser for the contest. Results were so good that Dr. Monheit has made this total facial non-surgical rejuvenation available to our patients who request such a service.

How does Dr. Appell use Latisse?

Dr. Appell started using Latisse when the Latisse representative started a contest at TS&B to see who could grow the best lashes. She began using Latisse with only one drop to the base of both upper eyelids at bedtime. It is applied in a fashion similar to eyeliner. After about two months her eyelashes were thicker and darker. After twelve weeks, she was amazed by what she saw. Her new eyelashes looked like a strip of false eyelashes! She loves having such long, thick dark lashes! On the weekends, she will sometimes go without mascara, and not feel at all awkward about it.
