What is included in a hospital bill?

Charges fall into two categories: a basic daily rate, which includes your room, meals, nursing care, housekeeping, telephone and television; and charges for special services, which include items your physician orders for you such as x-rays or laboratory tests.

Does medicaid pay for private rooms?

We will need a copy of your Medicaid card. Medicaid also has payment limitations on a number of services and items. Medicaid does not pay for the cost of a private room unless medically necessary. Co-payments are the responsibility of the patient and are due at discharge.

How to obtain medical records from a hospital?

You must notify Medical Records 24 to 36 hours before you actually need the copies. You will either need to come into the HIM office and sign an authorization for Medical Records to release copies, or fax a letter and include the patient's name, Social Security number, date of birth, a list of the records you are requesting, and a contact number where you can be reached at .
