For patients staying at Skagit Valley Hospital or Cascade Valley Hospital, discharge planning by a nurse or social worker is available every day during business hours. Discharge planning will assist you with planning a safe, appropriate discharge either to home or to an alternative level of care, such as a skilled nursing facility.

What is the Interpreter Services Department?

The Interpreter Services Department provides language interpretation and translation of documents as needed for all Skagit Regional Health patients. Translation services are also available during a clinical visit or inpatient stay. Patients needing translation services can inform their clinical team and options will be provided.

What to do if you need an interpreter?

If you or a patient requires an interpreter or has special speech or hearing impaired requirements, inform a nurse or other staff member for assistance. Resources are available to assist speech and hearing impaired patients.

Can a chaplain provide spiritual care?

Anyone can make a referral for spiritual care or services. Chaplains may provide additional support especially in the following situations: new diagnosis, end-of-life decisions and care, fetal demise, special religious concerns that affect medical treatment and additional care for patients who are far from home or without support systems.

I was born and raised in Tumwater, WA and moved across the state to Pullman for my undergraduate studies at WSU (Go Cougs!). After finishing my degree, I moved to the east coast where I attended New York Medical College and received my MD.
