A reasonable cost-based charge may be made for the cost of duplicating and mailing medical records. A reasonable charge is not more than $30 for the first 15 pages, and $0.25 per page thereafter.
Generally, vital records, such as birth, death, marriage, divorce records, are restricted from public access until a statutory period of confidentiality elapses. Until then, New Mexico Vital Statistics Act only allows persons who can demonstrate a direct, tangible interest to obtain vital records.
