Rheumatologists diagnose and treat arthritis, rheumatoid arthritis, scleroderma, systemic lupus erythematosis, Kawasaki Disease and other rheumatic diseases of the joints, soft tissue, and connective tissue. Many of these conditions are the result of autoimmune disorders.
A rheumatologist is a physician who is qualified, by additional training and experience in the diagnosis and treatment of arthritis and other diseases of the joints, muscles and bones. After four years of medical school and three years of training in internal medicine, rheumatologists devote an additional two to three years in specialized rheumatology training.
Rheumatology Associates of South Texas will remain open to treat patients with certain criteria. This may change as this pandemic evolves. It is our physicians recommendation that all of our patients, not just 60 years of age and older or those on immune suppressing therapies, take every measure possible to self-quarantine, limit excursions from the home to essential activities such as visits to medical facilities in order to maintain/monitor therapy to keep auto immune diseases under control, grocery and pharmacy visits for essential needs.
Rheumatology Associates of South Texas is dedicated to the diagnosis and treatment of patients with disorders of the joints, muscles, tendons, bones and connective tissues. Our doctors and staff are dedicated to providing the highest standard of rheumatologic care individually tailored to the needs, circumstances and desires of each patient.
In the event of an over-payment, we will refund you and/or the party of whom has made the over-payment. Please allow a minimum of 30 days from the date of discovery of an over-payment for a refund to be processed.

The TOL Patient Portal (also referred to as "TRICARE Online" or "TOL") is the current secure patient portal that gives registered users access to online health care information and services at military hospitals and clinics.
If you move back to a non-MHS GENESIS location, you’ll resume use of the TOL Secure Patient Portal for all secure actions (appointing, viewing health data, prescription refills, secure messaging).
MHS GENESIS is the new secure patient portal for TRICARE. It will eventually deploy to all military medical and dental facilities worldwide and replace the TOL Patient Portal.
You will need to contact your medical provider’s office for any technical issues. But before you do, please check that you’re attempting to access your patient portal from a desktop computer using a Chrome, Microsoft Edge, Mozilla Firefox, or Safari browser. This may solve the problem. If not, your medical provider can supply additional assistance.
As soon as your record is created, you’ll be able to see your health data in MHS GENESIS.
