To enroll in the SMASA Patient Portal, you must request an enrollment token during your appointment or via our Administrator at portal@smasatx.com. You will be required to sign a consent form and provide an e-mail address for use with our SMASA Patient Portal.
The Patient Portal is an online service that provides patients secure access to their health information. Various features may be available on the portal at your practice's discretion, including the ability to send messages to your health care providers, schedule appointments, and pay bills online. top
You may discontinue your use of Patient Portal at any time by sending a secure message to your primary care provider's office requesting this change.
Click the Sign Out link at the top right of the screen. Alternatively, if your keyboard remains idle for 10 minutes or more, you will receive a pop-up window asking if you are still actively using the portal. If you do not click the OK button, you will be signed out automatically. Any information you have typed and not saved or sent will be lost.

It is at your provider's discretion to make test results available. Your provider must authorize the release of your test results in order for them to post to your Patient Portal account. In case of an emergency outside of regular office hours including weekends, holidays, or after 5:00 PM, call the regular office number and our answering service will contact the on-call physician. If you need to refill a prescription in between appointments, below is the Lowcountry Orthopaedics and Sports Medicine Policy: * Prescription refill requests require 24 hours to be processed.
Lowcountry Orthopaedics will be in violation of our contract with your carrier if we do not collect your co-pay and/or co-insurance at the time of service.
It is the Practice’s responsibility to protect the records against loss, defacement, and tampering, as well as authorized use a signed consent by the patient or legal guardian is required before medical records or x- rays can be released to a physician’s office, attorney, or any other organization.
We recommend patients read their policy book or call their insurance company to learn about benefits and coverage of their policy. Lowcountry Orthopaedics is considered a SPECIALTY practice. Many insurances will not pay for specialty practice charges unless a referral is given from the primary care physician.
