The clinic staff of the Santa Cruz Community Health Centers is comprised of caring, experienced, professionals who maintain a passion and an expertise for community health. Our medical team includes physicians, pediatricians, nurse practitioners, physician assistants, and nurses.

What can I do in the patient portal?

You can use the patient portal to request an appointment, pay your bill, confirm normal test results, or view your health records.  All communications between you and your provider's office are carried over a secure, encrypted connection. As a Women's Health Connecticut patient, all you need is an email address to enroll.

Who is Jill from the Women's Health Center?

Jill is a bilingual Licensed Clinical Social Worker, serving patients at the Women’s Health Center since 2014. She started her social work career locally in 1997 at the Santa Cruz Needle Exchange and AIDS Project, which has influenced her current focus on serving marginalized and underrepresented populations. Today, Jill has more than 17 years of experience working with diverse groups including children, adolescents and teens, families experiencing homelessness, the LGBTQ community, survivors of domestic violence, and people of all ages struggling with substance abuse. She approaches behavioral health from a client-centered, humanistic perspective grounded in theories and practice of mindfulness, internal family systems, harm reduction and motivational interviewing. In her free time, she enjoys cooking, gardening, exploring the great outdoors and daydreaming about starting a non-profit sanctuary for rescued animals.

Who is Cindy from Santa Cruz?

Cindy is a bilingual and bicultural Case Manager with the Santa Cruz Community Health Centers. In 2009 she completed her Bachelor’s Degree from the University of California, Santa Cruz (UCSC) where she majored in Community Studies with an emphasis on at-risk youth. In 2012, she completed her Master’s Degree in Social Work from the University of Southern California (USC), where she concentrated on Mental Health and School Settings, and attained her Pupil Personnel Services Credential (PPSC). Cindy has dedicated most of her career working with non-profit organizations, particularly working with youth in school settings and youth in the juvenile justice system. Cindy has a great passion for helping others and is currently working on becoming a Licensed Clinical Social Worker. Cindy is married and has a three-year-old son, and during her free time she enjoys baking, dancing, spending time with family and attending sports events.

What is Rosalina Valdez's background?

Rosalina Valdez received her Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from the City University of New York (CUNY) and her Master of Social Work from California State University at Monterey Bay. She has several years’ experience in suicide prevention, intervention, and postvention work and is a trainer for ASIST (Applied Suicide Intervention Skills Training), SafeTALK (Suicide Awareness for Everyone – Tell, Ask, Listen, KeepSafe), and Mental Health First Aid for Adults. Her approach is greatly influenced by Trauma Informed Care and Trauma Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT) and Motivational Interviewing. Her interests include public policy reform, mental health advocacy, and suicide prevention and awareness. When not working, Rosalina enjoys watching baseball, cartoons, reading, and spending time with her loved ones and her cats, The Captain and Dewey.

Who is Kayla Weiss?

Kayla Weiss is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker who joined Santa Cruz Community Health Centers in October of 2016 as a Complex Care Case Manager. Kayla has her Masters in Social Work from Cal State East Bay as well as a Bachelor of Arts in Women’s and Gender Studies (with a Queer Studies minor) and Liberal Studies from Sonoma State University. As an LCSW, she is proud to work in a comprehensive and integrated setting that focuses on providing equitable health care for all! Coming from a background in anti-violence work in Sonoma County, Kayla has a passion for feminism and advocacy for marginalized communities. Working the majority of her career in the non-profit setting, Kayla brings an empowerment and strengths based approach to her practice. In her personal life, you may find her walking her dogs down the beach, exploring the natural beauty of Santa Cruz County, or expanding her taste buds at a local restaurant.

Who is Amy Votta Fierro?

Amy Votta-Fierro is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker who joined the Santa Cruz Women’s Health Center in September 2017. Amy graduated from Southern Illinois University at Edwardsville with a Bachelor of Social Work Degree and obtained her Master of Social Work Degree from the University of Illinois at Chicago. Much of her career has been focused on crisis intervention and trauma with children, teens, and adults in a variety of settings, most notably at the YWCA of Metropolitan Chicago, the Monterey County Rape Crisis Center, and, for the past 13 years, with Monterey County Children’s Behavioral Health, supporting families involved in the child welfare system. On her down time, Amy enjoys teaching fitness classes and spending time with her husband, 2 cats, and her dog.
