Nov 23, 2016 · It is the most complicated design I have ever encountered, and it has the least amount of information of any patient portal I have ever used. This is the opposite of what a patient portal should be. It is frustrating to have a login and absolutely nothing worthwhile to look at. It can’t even send you a notification properly.
The product does not have 15 surveys from facilities with 2-10 physicians, but has at least 15 when including surveys from single physician facilities. Component. Solution that typically includes most but not all components that comprise a complete system or that serves only a subset of the market. Limited market share.

After looking at several other EMR's NextGen seems to be more user friendly than others I have seen. There is a lot of "clicking" and navigation to be done to complete a chart but it seems to be the same with all EHR's. NextGen offers recorded trainings, WebEx and onsite trainings to get the most out of the product.

Make sure to understand the advantages and disadvantages of NextGen. On top of the NextGen reviews, we have also included some pros and cons:
NextGen Healthcare Clinical Care Solutions works to get your practice or hospital EMR compliant. It is very difficult to get anything done quickly-- there are so many clicks required to perform simple tasks and when you are patient-facing it makes you look a little silly. It is difficult to input information quickly into the system and patient information does not always upload from their portal. Patients do like that they are able to look up their own records and send messages through this system. It is well suited for a practice that only wants one program to do it all-- billing, scheduling, and the actual practicing. It is, however, very difficult to learn as you need to learn how to trick the system in many cases.
NextGen is terrific for Family Practice and an internal IT staff to manage. If you outsource your IT staff, you should probably look at a hosted solution from another company.
Through the Patient Portal Web Shortcut from NextGen Healthcare, you can communicate with your doctor, access medical records and test results, and request appointments and medication refills.
I have three total healthcare provider networks. Two of them utilize MyChart, one of which has taken things to the next level and has commissioned their own application to include multi-factor authentication (MFA) and an intuitive interface. This application is like something from year 2004. It’s graphical design and logic is questionably poor.
