How long is a mid-iowa fertility consultation?

The goal of this first visit is to thoroughly evaluate your medical history, outline a diagnostic plan to determine the specific needs of your case, and to design a treatment plan that is customized to your individual situation. The appointment typically lasts 45 to 60 minutes. During this visit, you will have the opportunity to have your questions answered and to participate in developing a plan for further evaluation and/or treatment. We strongly that encourage both partners attend this consult. In most cases, you will not complete any testing or have a physical exam during your initial consult. In other cases, if you’re on or near day 3 of your menstrual cycle, your physician may give you the option of initiating testing during this appointment or wait until the following month.

When is a menstrual cycle test done?

Testing is based on different days of your menstrual cycle. Testing is usually done on day 3 of your cycle and days 6-13. Depending on where you are in your cycle it is possible that we could do some testing at your initial visit.

Why do we have a new patient visit checklist?

Because we all want your first visit to be the most productive we have created a new patient visit checklist to help you make the most of your first appointment. You will want to make sure your medical records are sent to our office before your first visit. In some cases, if records are not in your chart, it can delay your testing and/or treatment protocol.

How long does it take for a syringe to start?

Because diagnoses vary significantly from patient to patient, consultation with your physician will establish the details and timing of your treatment plan, but in most cases treatment can often start within one cycle, approximately one month.
