How to Love is Mazzoni Center’s healthy sexuality workshop series, and delivers comprehensive and interactive workshops for young people ages 13 – 24. It can be implemented both in and outside of school-curriculum as part of a ten session series, or individually. Workshops aim to promote an understanding and appreciation of sexuality in order to strengthen communication skills and enhance health and well-being.
Mazzoni Health Center will continue to increase access to health care services, focusing on the needs of under/non-insured LGBTQ individuals and other underserved communities and improve patient coordination within the primary care setting to improve the health of the LGBTQ community. Successful engagement in primary care services allows us to identify acute and chronic medical and behavioral health conditions, and implement individualized treatment and preventative care plans.
With evolving obstacles facing our community, from the HIV/AIDS epidemic to transphobic public health policies , the past four decades at Mazzoni Center were marked by collective resilience and innovation in pursuit of our mission. This year was no different. The COVID-19 pandemic presented us with one of our most novel challenges yet, and the national mobilization for racial justice compelled us to reevaluate our own antiracist efforts. We navigated these obstacles together with steadfastness, adaptability, compassion, imagination and an enduring belief in our communal strength.
The COVID-19 pandemic forced us to think creatively to continue delivering our health and wellness services. In the absence of face-to-face contact, we have had to reorganize and reimagine what community connection looks like. As an agency that prides itself on meeting patients and clients where they are and assist them in meeting their needs, the transition to a virtual landscape has provided an opportunity to engage with members differently. Though we been at full operational capacity for all of our services for over a year, we have the skills and tools necessary to to provide healthcare, social support and access to resources to community members in need.

The Education and Training department encompasses 4 areas of focus: youth education programs (Ally Safe Schools, How To Love, and Philly Youth Pride), and professional development trainings.
