At Johnson & Collins Orthodontics, we provide our patients with the most advanced, state-of-the-art orthodontic technology in our Southlake, Bedford, Coppell and Keller, Texas locations. In fact, we’ve built a reputation for taking a patient-first approach to orthodontic care. That’s why we offer Invisalign®, the Damon® System and other options that make treatment fast, comfortable and esthetic. You can find out more about the tools our doctors use to create amazing smiles below.
Invisalign aligners are made with 3-D computer imaging technology and have revolutionized the way we treat teeth. Each aligner has the perfect amount of movement programmed in. Teens wear their aligners 24/7, taking them out only to eat, brush and floss. It's easy to get started with Invisalign. At Johnson & Collins Orthodontics, we take a digital scan of your teeth, capturing (in great detail) your dental anatomy. This scan is painless and fast. They use the scan to determine your prescription and then works with Invisalign to create your virtual computerized treatment. Once approved, the virtual treatment plan is used to create all the aligners needed to improve the smile.
Though orthodontics can enhance a smile at any age, the American Association of Orthodontics suggests that children be evaluated by the age of 7. At that age, we can advise you of any functional orthodontic problem and determine if treatment will be needed as well as the best time for treatment. If waiting for treatment is recommended, we’ll see your child once or twice a year to monitor their growth and assess their needs. These very important growth and development appointments are provided free of charge.
Helpful Tips for Living with Braces 1 You'll need to brush more frequently while wearing braces. This means brushing after every meal and snack, at a minimum 4 times per day. 2 If you can't brush, you can still rinse your mouth out with water to clear away food and sugar. 3 We recommend brushing with a soft-bristled toothbrush with a small head, as this gives you the maneuverability to reach every part of your mouth. 4 Don't forget to floss daily, and remember that you'll need to use a floss threader to get under the archwire. 5 You'll need to brush or rinse your mouth extra carefully after eating anything sugary, as your teeth are at increased risk of decay during treatment. 6 We recommend carrying an interdental brush on your person, which you can use to dislodge any food that gets caught in your braces when you're on the go.
