The Zio patch is already on the market to check for a range of irregular heart conditions. It has a U.S. list price of $995 and is covered by most major insurers, according to the company.
The Zio report is generated by the world's only FDA-cleared, deep-learned algorithm that can detect 13+ different types of arrhythmias, plus sinus rhythm and artifacts — just as well as expert board-certified cardiologists.

The Zio patch is more expensive than older monitors: about $360 for Medicare versus $100 to $150 for Holter monitors, King said. The higher price can occasionally cause trouble with insurance reimbursement, though Gerstenfeld estimated about 80 percent of insurance companies cover the patch.
How do I know that the recorder is still working? Your recorder is activated during application and records continuously for the entire prescribed duration. Following activation, no lights will illuminate, and it is not possible to stop recording prematurely.

What is the Zio Patch? The Zio Patch is a new piece of medical equipment, made by iRhythm Technologies Inc. based in San Francisco, USA. The Zio Patch has been created to monitor your heart rhythm for 2 weeks.
An orange flash means that the patch is not well attached. Apply continuous pressure across two sticky pads for 2 minutes to try and re-adhere it. If the Zio Patch continues to flash orange, call the clinical trials support team for further advice.
Swimming and any activities that cause excessive sweating which can cause the Zio Patch to slide or become loose and so shortening the wear time.
The patch is recording every heartbeat and storing the data so that it can be analysed by iRhythm’s computer systems. A report will then be produced, analysed and sent back to your GP with any abnormalities noted for the GP’s attention.
If the patch comes loose, you can add some extra tape (e.g. Micropore) or a film dressing (e.g. Tegaderm) to help stick it down. These items should be available from Boots, a local Pharmacy or large supermarket. Once in place, apply continuous pressure across the patch for 2 minutes to try and re-adhere it.
Do you sometimes experience a skipped beat in your chest? Or feel a racing of the heart?
First, follow the monitor removal directions in your Patient Instructions and Button Press Log booklet. Then, simply place the Zio monitor in the convenient postage pre-paid return box, and post it back to us. The return address is already printed on the box. The Zio monitor is designed to record every heartbeat. While the Button Press Log is useful, pressing the button indicates that you felt symptoms at that time. Pressing the button on the Zio monitor when you feel a symptom is important, but the Zio monitor records every heartbeat whether you press the button or not. While recording the Zio monitor will not flash or make any sound. You can ensure it is active and recording by holding down on the button for 10 seconds. A green light will flash indicating it is working, and don’t worry, this won’t be recorded as a symptom.
Atrial fibrillation (also called AFib or AF) is a quivering or irregular heartbeat (arrhythmia) that can lead to blood clots, stroke, heart failure and other heart-related complications.
Holter monitors can be worn for 24 to 48 hours, limiting the time to record any irregular heart rhythms you may have. Zio is able to capture data for the 51% of patients who have their first symptom-triggered arrhythmia after 48 hours. 1Turakhia, M., et al. (2013).
