Chaplains work together with physicians, nurses and other healthcare staff, as part of a team dedicated to holistic patient care. A chaplain visits daily with most newly admitted patients to listen empathetically and offer spiritual support, comfort, prayer and a devotional booklet.

The unexpected fears and overwhelming threat of an uncertain future can often send patients and their families in search of spiritual, emotional and physical healing.
Hospital medicine specialists are primary care doctors who specialize in caring for patients while they are in the hospital. Their practice is located within Grand View Health and is available to patients 24 hours a day, seven days a week. They only see hospitalized patients and do not have outpatient medical offices.
