What services do you provide?

Dulcimer Medical Center is a primary care provider with family practice physicians, nurse practitioners, L.P.N.'s, and support staff. We offer a wide variety of services including lab tests, X–Rays, EKG's, Ultrasounds and allergy tests. Minor surgical proceedures are done on site in our two well equipped surgical rooms.

What happens if I need to go to the hospital?

Since our founding in 2007 we have put the care and well-being of our patients first, coming along side people to help them to be as healthy as possible. This included caring for our patients when treating illness that required admission to the local Fairmont Hospital. As the practive grew we found ourselves increasingly over-stretched.

I am a Medicare patient. Why am I getting a bill for my annual exam?

Medicare does not cover routine/preventative physicals. If you schedule and receive an annual/routine exam it will be billed that way. Always check your coverage and benefits in your medicare manual if you are unsure of your coverage/benefits.

Will my allergy testing be covered by insurance?

Many insurance policies do cover allergy testing. Dulcimer Medical Center does a variety of testing for patients who are having issues that may be related to allergies. If you call the business office, we can give you procedure codes for the test that you might have done.

If I have insurance, why do I need to pay for a sports physical upfront?

Sports physicals are not typically covered by insurance. Dulcimer Medical Center has special days set aside to do sports physicals as a cost savings to patients. If a regular office visit is booked for a sports physical during regular hours—other than those set aside for sports physicals, the cost to the patient would be greater.

How do I transfer my health records from my previous provider?

You will need to request that your health care records be transferred to Dulcimer Medical Center. Download an Authorization for Release form here.

Who is Donna Dulcimer?

Donna is a Medical Technologist certified by the American Society of Clinical Pathologists and oversees all lab functions at Dulcimer. She worked as a Mycology Specialist at Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minnesota and in a hospital setting where she gained extensive experience in all aspects of lab operations.

Where did Dr. Parnell go to medical school?

Dr. Parnell earned his undergraduate degree at Southwest State University in Marshall, Minnesota. He earned his medical degree at the Mayo Medical School in Rochester , Minnesota and is Board Certified in Family Medicine. Not satisfied with the status quo, he is always looking for better ways to help people.

Dr. Erbes and his wife, Leane, reside in Estherville, Iowa, and have been married for 22 years. Their family includes seven children and ten grandchildren (nine boys and one girl).

Kaylynn grew up in Fairmont, and is married to her husband Lee. They welcomed a baby boy, Luther, in February 2015 and a baby girl, Iris, February 2017. She enjoys spending time with her family, relaxing at the lake, spending time outdoors, and reading.

What are the chief benefits of MHS GENESIS?

MHS GENESIS is the first Department of Defense-wide electronic health record to be used by all military treatment facilities. By the time that MHS GENESIS is fully implemented throughout all of the DoD, patients will be able to receive care from any military treatment facility knowing that their health records will follow them.

How is MHS GENESIS different from CAL MED's current electronic health record systems?

Like all Army military treatment facilities, CAL MED currently uses several electronic health record systems for inpatient records, outpatient records, emergency room records, and other areas of care. While care teams can view patients' records in the different systems, this requires extra time to navigate all of the records.

What will I notice about what's new with MHS GENESIS?

The primary difference that patients will notice is the Patient Portal. While receiving care at MTFs which use MHS GENESIS, patients will no longer use RelayHealth and Tricare Online except for limited functions, such as requesting new providers.

When will I be able to start using the MHS GENESIS Patient Portal?

While patients may be able to log on to the Patient Portal and explore it during the weeks leading up to the transition to MHS GENESIS, the Patient Portal will not be active until September 7, 2019.

When patients move, will their new military treatment facilities be using MHS GENESIS?

The Department of Defense has a multi-year plan for all military treatment facilities to transition to MHS GENESIS. CAL MED is in the second wave of military treatment facility to transition to MHS GENESIS.
