We know this can be confusing! Birth centers may be a new concept for you… and figuring out the best way to bring your baby into the world is a big decision for your family, in the realms of hopes and dreams AND finances. The best way to navigate these decisions is to come to a tour.
The midwives at Dar a Luz consult and collaborate with many other providers throughout the Albuquerque area and surrounding communities. We collaborate with nurse-midwives and physicians at Lovelace Women’s Hospital, Presbyterian and University Hospital.
We shop local and join forces with local organizations whenever possible.
Although we don’t expect you to need this, here are a couple of good resources for talking to older kids about grief and birth.
The use of water during labor and birth has been used for many years in hospitals and birthing centers in the US and in many other parts of the world from Europe to China with comparable maternal and newborn outcomes whether or not they give birth in water.
The Birthplace childbirth education program has expanded its programming to offer classes on a wider range of topics for families. The new classes and support groups offered by The Birthplace are designed to meet the needs of families as they grow and change over time. Classes now include free car seat checks, natural childbirth methods, Spinning Babies®, breastfeeding and Hypnobirthing® classes. Some classes are available in an on-line format as well.
Infant security is an important issue for every maternity unit, but Summerlin Hospital is breaking new ground in Las Vegas by offering a special component in infant protection that matches moms with their newborn. A new component of the Hugs® Infant Protection System by Xmark, Kisses™ automatically confirms that the right baby is with the right mom by giving an audible signal to indicate a match or mismatch.
