Oct 25, 2021 · ASAC - Area Substance Abuse Council - Heart of Iowa is a place where people can get the help they need in their sobriety journey. They offer a variety of treatment methods that are all focused on individualized sobriety programs. Their rehab center has helped individuals of all backgrounds overcome their addictions and live sober lives.
Substance rehabs focus on helping individuals recover from substance abuse, including alcohol and drug addiction (both illegal and prescription drugs). They often include the opportunity to engage in both individual as well as group therapy.
This program is for recovering men and women who are either homeless or do not have a home to return to after primary residential that is suitable to their recovery. The average length of stay is 2 to 3 months.
Outpatient treatment services are self-paced and patients participate for varying lengths of time based on individual needs and assessment recommendations. Group meetings are available at different times throughout the week. Several specialty groups are available to serve the needs of specific participants, and may include groups specific to age, gender, culture, drug of choice and other issues associated with a person’s substance use. Individual and family counseling sessions are provided as needed.
Intensive Outpatient Programs (IOP) are for those who want or need a very structured treatment program but who also wish to live at home and continue with certain responsibilities (such as work or school ). IOP substance abuse treatment programs vary in duration and intensity, and certain outpatient rehab centers will offer individualized treatment programs.
Residential treatment utilizes an intensive curriculum in which patients delve into the affect their substance use disorder has had not just on their lives, but also on their family, friends, employer, and co-workers. Special group sessions are provided on topics such as stress management, decision making, communication, and anger management/anger replacement. Treatment is self-paced and lengths of stay are based on individual needs and progress of the patient.
Completing a drug or alcohol rehab program shouldn't spell the end of substance abuse treatment. Aftercare involves making a sustainable plan for recovery, including ongoing support. This can include sober living arrangements like halfway houses, career counseling, and setting a patient up with community programs like Alcoholics Anonymous (AA) or Narcotics Anonymous (NA).
Intervention services helps family or friends of addicts stage an intervention, which is a meeting in which loved ones share their concerns and attempt to get an addict into treatment. Professional intervention specialists can help loved ones organize, gather, and communicate with an addict. They can guide intervention participants in describing the damage the addict's behavior is causing and that outside help is necessary to address the addiction. The ideal outcome of an intervention is for the addict to go to rehab and get the help they need.

24 hour residential treatment is provided for those patients who require a structured and supervised environment to be substance free. This youth residential substance abuse treatment program is focused toward males and females ages 13 to 18. This treatment is specialized for individuals who are battling with a level of substance use that requires the structure and support of a 24-hour treatment program. ASAC’s Hightower Place is a program that provides 24-hour supervision and substance use disorder treatment services to women 18 years of age and older and for their children. For more information please see the Hightower Place Page.
Medication Assisted Treatment is a combination of counseling and medication to assist an individual with a substance use disorder in maintaining long term recovery. These medications can reduce the risk of relapse and help individuals be more successful in their treatment and recovery process.For more information please see the Medication Assisted Treatment Page.
Family support during treatment and recovery helps to build a strong sustainable support system. Patients in treatment services often participate in multiple levels of care prior to completion.
