As we face new COVID challenges we wanted to reassure you that we remain vigilant to ensure safety for providers, staff, and for patients who seek care in our clinics. Infection control has always been a top priority and our infection control processes ensure that when you receive care, it’s both safe and comfortable.

Proof of Vaccination or Negative COVID-19 Test Required Prior to Treatment

As part of our COVID risk mitigation to keep everyone safe at this time, all vaccinated patients will be asked to produce proof of vaccination before treatment can be provided.

Patient Intake Process: Becoming a Patient

During your initial phone call to the school, a staff member will get you registered in our system and collect your demographic information and your insurance information.

Who is Dr. Dugoni?

Dugoni was an overachiever’s overachiever: valedictorian of everything—his high school and dental school class—and president of everything—the P&S dental student body, first, and eventually, the California Dental Association, the American Dental Association (he was also ADA trustee and treasurer), the ADA Foundation, the American Dental Education Association and the American Board of Orthodontics. He was treasurer of the FDI World Dental Federation, where he instructed a global audience, and co-founder of The Santa Fe Group, a think tank aimed at improving oral health. As Gilbertson points out, “Art’s internal drive to do his best, to be the best, fueled by his cosmic energy and talent, produced a universe of achievements.”

What did Dugoni believe?

Dugoni believed in people. He believed in their essential goodness, and he believed in their potential. This belief, driven by native good cheer and a quiet but deep religiosity, led him to equanimity, calm and conciliation. He expressed occasional anger not as an emotional reaction to perceived unfairness, but as energy in the service of change. Looking beyond others’ shortcomings, he was quick to forgive. He rarely experienced disappointment. In short, Dugoni was an optimist.

History of Arthur A. Dugoni School of Dentistry

One of the world's most distinctive metropolitan centers, San Francisco has been the home of the School of Dentistry since its incorporation in 1896 as the College of Physicians and Surgeons. The school has been recognized since its inception as a major resource for dental education in the Western states.

Accreditation

The University of the Pacific is fully accredited by the Accrediting Commission for Senior Colleges and Universities of the Western Association of Schools and Colleges (WASC). The dental educational programs are fully accredited by the Commission on Dental Accreditation (CODA).

Humanistic Education

It is the goal of the School of Dentistry to educate the highest quality practitioners who can practice independently and successfully in their patients' best interests. It is our belief that a humanistic approach to education best accomplishes this goal.

Standing Committees

In keeping with sound shared governance principles, the School of Dentistry incorporates the expertise and perspective of students, faculty, and administrators in the decision-making process through use of the committee system.

Fees

As a teaching facility, all of our fees include an educational discount. Treatment fees are approximately 20-30% less than fees you will find in private orthodontic practices in the Bay Area.

Payment Plans

A 5% discount bookkeeping credit will be given if payment in full is made at the time that treatment starts.

How to Become a Patient

We welcome all patients in our Orthodontic Clinic and accept referrals from other dentists, physicians and specialists. Please call our appointment desk at 415.929.6555 or fill out our online form to arrange a convenient time for a complimentary consultation appointment.

What to Expect at Your First Visit

At your consultation appointment, which will take place either in person or via secure videoconference, an orthodontist will examine you and advise you as to the need for treatment, the timing of treatment and the options available for treatment. Minors must be accompanied by a parent or guardian at this appointment.
