Please bring your latest insurance card to your first visit. Many insurance companies require a referral from the primary care physician listed on your insurance plan. A referral from another specialist or a primary care doctor who is not listed as your primary care physician on your insurance may not qualify.

At your first visit, the doctor will likely dilate your pupils. This involves using drops that make the pupil, the black part of the eye, big so that the doctor can examine your eye for such diseases as glaucoma, cataracts, diabetic changes, etc. When dilated, you can expect your vision to be blurry for at least several hours.
Please know that most initial visits for a comprehensive eye examination require a significant amount of time in our office, sometimes a few hours.

In the same building as the Southwest Eye Institute’s East location is the Vista Surgery Center. Being under the same roof allows for the ultimate in convenience for you and your family. You have a choice of where you have your surgery performed, so please discuss that with us.
