Where are surgeries performed at Winchester Medical Center?

All inpatient surgeries are performed at Winchester Medical Center. Outpatient surgeries are performed at Surgi-Center of Winchester or Winchester Medical Center. For patients scheduled at Winchester Medical Center you will need to call (540) 536-8988 to answering pre-screening questions. Enter the hospital through the Outpatient Entrance and go directly to Registration. Follow the signs in the lobby.

How long does it take to get a preauthorization for a steroid injection?

The office will schedule all diagnostic testing, referrals, and epidural steroid injections that were ordered by the physician. The office will then contact the patient via telephone or mail after this has been arranged. This process can take anywhere from 7 to 14 business days or longer.

Where is Dexa scan?

Dexa Scan (Bone Density Study): Dexa Scan’s are scheduled at Winchester Medical Center. You should enter at the Diagnostic Center and register in the main lobby approximately 30 minutes before your appointment time. These are the special instructions for your Scan: You may eat normally.

How long does it take to get a physical therapy order?

This process can take anywhere from 7 to 14 business days or longer. Physical Therapy: Once you receive an order for Physical Therapy (usually via mail), you will need to contact any Physical Therapy facility of your choice. Confirm that they participate with your insurance and schedule a convenient appointment.

Who is the first surgeon to perform a stemless total shoulder?

Our very own Dr. Larson has been the first orthopaedic surgeon in the area to perform a Stemless Total Shoulder on a patient. The procedure requires less time and blood loss for the patient. The physician is able to attach the device to the patient's own bone and does not require the long stem needed for a standard shoulder repair.

Do you have to watch the procedure?

You will be fully awake and aware during the procedure. You will be positioned comfortably in a chair, or your may fully lie down if you prefer. You do not have to watch the procedure if you do not want to. You can bring headphones if you like or you can tell us what type of music you prefer.
