The most exact way to measure bone density is by a DEXA-scan (dual-energy x-ray). The Dexa -scan can show whether you are at risk for a fracture. Osteoporosis screening is covered by most insurance policies and by Medicare. The screening requires a physician, nurse or physician assistant order.
