The VA Health Summary: Is a Continuity of Care Document (CCD) that contains specific information. Provides a summary of your health information that can be used to review your medical record and to share essential information with your health care providers.

The VA Blue Button feature helps you better manage your health care needs and communicate with your health care team. With the VA Blue Button feature, you can: Customize and download a report (as a PDF or text file) to share with your VA and non-VA providers.

Provides a summary of your health information that can be used to review your medical record and to share essential information with your health care providers. Allows health information that is in one health care system to be electronically exchanged with another health care system that is providing care.

Does the VA endorse apps?

Identification Information

Your identity must be verified to gain access to your VA medical records. Enter your identity as it currently appears in VA and DoD records. To access some features, you must upgrade your account to Premium level. You may upgrade your account at a later time.

You have the ability to allow delivery of email notifications and reminders. Select the On button for each notification and reminder you want to receive.

Security Questions

Security questions are asked to confirm your identity. These questions will be asked if you cannot remember your User ID and/or Password. Be sure to select questions and answers you will remember. The answers to the questions are case sensitive.

What can you do with secure messaging?

You can use secure messaging to: Ask non-urgent, non-emergency health-related questions. Give your health care team updates on your condition. Request VA referrals, test results, and prescription renewals. Manage your VA health appointments. Ask routine administrative questions about topics like scheduling appointments or getting directions.

How long does it take for a VA to respond to a non-emergency message?

You can send non-urgent, non-emergency messages at any time of the day or night. Your VA health care team should respond within 3 business days (Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., except federal holidays).

What to do if you have a medical emergency?

If you think you have a medical emergency, call 911 or go to the nearest emergency room. If you don’t have an emergency, but you’re not sure what type of care you need, call your nearest VA health facility. If you need to talk with someone right away, contact the Veterans Crisis Line.
