Heart Walk is the American Heart Association's premier national event, bringing communities together to promote heart-healthy living and raise money for research and educational programs. The Birmingham Heart Walk is scheduled for Saturday, June 12, and organizers for the second year have scheduled a virtual event that takes place wherever participants happen to be.
In past years, UAB Medicine has provided hydration stations at certain points on the downtown route to help participants keep vital fluids flowing. There are no actual hydration stations for the virtual event, but as the official hydration sponsor, UAB Medicine supports the American Heart Association’s “Rethink your Drink” campaign, which provides thirsty walkers with tips about heart-healthy beverages. Click here to learn how to switch from sugary drinks to water or low-calorie options that will quench your thirst and still taste good.
