Communicating with St. Jude

Referring physicians will receive regular updates on the child's progress. You will receive your first update after your patient arrives and completes his or her first review with the St. Jude care team. This initial status update should come within 72 hours. Follow-up information will be forthcoming.

Outpatient Care

Unlike a traditional hospital, most children at St. Jude are treated as outpatients. They only have to be at the hospital for tests, check-ups and treatments.

Why do we need a home monitor?

A home monitor allows much more frequent analysis of your heart rhythm and pacemaker function. The daily monitoring allows your doctor to respond to any abnormalities detected by the device that warrant early medical action in a very prompt manner.

Is remote monitoring an emergency service?

It is very important to note that remote monitoring is not an emergency service. It will notify us of pacemaker issues but is not a continuous 24 hour a day monitoring or alarm service. In an emergency you must seek the appropriate medical care.
