Southwest General’s HealtheLife ( formerly MyHealth) gives you online access to portions of your hospital-based electronic medical record. Additionally, HealtheLife offers a variety of health and wellness resources to help you more easily manage your health.

Is Southwest General HealtheLife confidential?

Southwest General's HealtheLife is completely confidential and meets all federal HIPAA guidelines designed to protect your private health information. If you have problems setting up your account, call Technical Support at 877-621-8014, 24-hours a day, seven days a week.

What is a Patient Portal?

A patient portal is an online application that allows patients to manage their healthcare easily and securely. Portals can be accessed at the patient’s convenience, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. At CHRISTUS Health we have specific patient portals for where you've received care from us.

YourCHRISTUS

YourCHRISTUS is an easy, secure way to manage your health at your convenience. Patients eligible for YourCHRISTUS must have received care at select CHRISTUS facilities. Select a location below to login to YourCHRISTUS. You can also create a Proxy Account to view the health care records of minor children or adults for whom you are the caregiver.

CHRISTUS MyCHART

MyChart is an online application that may be accessed from your computer, tablet or phone, whichever is most convenient for you.

How to stop bleeding after a syringe?

The day following surgery, warm salt water (1/2 tsp. per cup) rinses should be used 5-6 times per day.

How long does it take for a bleed to stop after a syringe?

Bleeding may require several hours to stop. Often, soaking the gauze in a strong tea solution before use will aid in clotting. Swelling is normal following any surgery, and usually takes 2-3 days to fully develop. Using ice packs the first 24 hours will minimize the swelling.

How long before surgery can you drink water?

No smoking at least 12 hours before surgery.

How long does it take for a bruising to go away?

Starting tomorrow, diet may be advanced as tolerated. Some bruising or discoloration of your face and neck is normal. It will resolve over the next 7-10 days and, while may be alarming, is no cause for concern.

Can you wear makeup on the day of surgery?

Do not wear lipstick, excessive makeup, or nail polish on the day of surgery. If you have an illness such as a cold, sore throat, stomach or bowel upset, please notify the office. If you take routine oral medications, please check with us prior to your surgical date for instructions.
