What is Southern Illinois Orthopedic Center?

Southern Illinois Orthopedic Center, attached to our Herrin office, provides outpatient surgeries for orthopaedic, spine, and podiatry needs. The Orthopaedic Institute of Southern Illinois has an ambulatory surgery center, Southern Illinois Orthopedic Center (SIOC), that is located and directly attached to our Herrin, Illinois office.

Anesthesia Your surgery experience at SIOC may consist of a preoperative interview with a member of the anesthesia department prior to your surgery. Our goal is to meet with all of our patients prior to surgery in order to evaluate your health history and determine the appropriate type of anesthesia required.

SIOC is the regionally dominant, patient choice, state-of-the-art outpatient musculoskeletal centers, offering a comprehensive continuum of services for the back, spine, foot, ankle, shoulder, knee, and any other joint of the body.

What is the SIOC preoperative interview?

Your surgery experience at SIOC may consist of a preoperative interview with a member of the anesthesia department prior to your surgery. Our goal is to meet with all of our patients prior to surgery in order to evaluate your health history and determine the appropriate type of anesthesia required. The necessary labs or the need for a chest x-ray or EKG will be determined at this time. The diagnostic testing may be performed at SIOC or at one of the local hospitals if more convenient for you. We perform chest x-rays, EKGs and draw blood for laboratory testing at the Center. These diagnostic tests will be performed on the day of your preoperative interview if ordered by the surgeon or the anesthesiologist.

When is a patient registration form required?

Patient Registration Form - Required for all patients. You may complete it prior to your appointment or you have the option to complete it during the preoperative interview or on the day of surgery.
