Is sound family medicine walk in?

For minor, non-life-threatening injuries or illnesses, Sound Family Medicine’s walk-in clinics are a first-line affordable alternative to the ER. What is my first step to establish care at Sound Family Medicine?

How can I schedule an appointment?

As a first-time patient, please call us at 253-848-5951 to schedule an appointment. Once you establish care, our care team will help you get set up with MySFM patient portal so in the future you will have the option to schedule online.

What information do you need from me to schedule an appointment?

It is very important that you let the scheduler know about all the concerns you would like addressed during your appointment. This helps us make sure an appropriate amount of time is scheduled.

What should I bring to my appointment?

Any prescription medication you are currently taking. Bring in your medications or write them down and bring a complete up-to-date list.

What forms or paperwork do I need to fill out during my first appointment?

We will provide you with all necessary paperwork to sign during your first appointment. You may preview them via our Patient Forms page.

Will I be reminded of my appointment?

We use an automated appointment reminder system that will call you one day before your appointment. If you schedule your appointment online, we will send you an email appointment confirmation and reminder a couple of days before the appointment.

Will I always be able to see my own doctor?

In most cases you can expect to see your own doctor. However, there may be occasions when your doctor is at the hospital delivering babies or handling an emergency. If this occurs, we will call to reschedule your appointment or ask if you would be willing to see another provider at your scheduled appointment time.

Payment Services

Payment or authorization to bill your insurance carrier for services rendered is due at the time of service. If you have an outstanding balance, payment will be requested at check in.

Prompt Pay Discounts

If you are uninsured, you may participate in Prompt Pay, a medical discount program.

Insurance or Health Plan

Your insurance policy is a contract between you and your carrier; it is important that you read and fully understand your benefits. If you aren’t sure, please do not assume your policy covers every form of medical care. Policies and benefits differ, even those from the same carrier.

Copayments and Deductibles

Copayments are a part of your insurance contract and are due at the time of service. Please have your copayment ready for when you check in for your appointment. If you are unable to pay your copay, you may be required to reschedule your visit. Only debit or credit card payment form is accepted.

Past Due Balances

Payment arrangements for past due balances can be made with our billing department at 253-848-5951 and select option 4.

Non-Sufficient Funds (NSF) Checks

In the event that a check is returned NSF, there will be a $30 NSF charge applied to the patient’s account, in addition to the amount of the returned check.
