Will I be put to sleep (under anesthesia) during the procedure? No. The port placement procedure is a minimally invasive procedure. You will only receive local anesthesia with some sedation and pain control medication if you need it during the procedure.
The bandage must be kept dry until the incision is completely healed. This usually takes 5 to 7 days. You can not take a shower during this time. You can usually take a bath if the port is in your chest, but you have to keep the bandage dry.

Yes. Online Patient Portal passwords are encrypted and the webpages are designed so that the information cannot be copied and pasted. You and authorized family members are the only ones who can access your Online Patient Portal. Also, a timeout feature protects your information if you leave the page open.
A PIN is required to set up access. To get your PIN, tell the Registrar (at check in or check out) that you want to join the patient portal. You will need to provide an email address and your Portal Invitation with PIN number will be emailed to you.
