Dr. Gordon Holen grew up in Michigan. He attended Michigan State University, obtaining a BA in Financial Administration-Magnum Cum Laude in 1994. He went on to Medical School at Michigan State University College of Osteopathic Medicine, graduating with a Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine in 1998.
