To the best of our knowledge, our case represents the first reported case of portal vein thrombosis in a patient with COVID-19 infection. In patients with cirrhosis there are only few studies on the use of anticoagulation for PVT. The numbers have been small in these studies and majority was partial PVT. The treatment regimens mainly used low molecular weight heparin (LMWH), one study also used oral Vitamin K antagonist.
