Does Planned Parenthood really help women? Planned Parenthood is an advocate for the legal and political protection of reproductive rights. This advocacy includes helping to sponsor abortion rights and women’s rights events. The Federation opposes restrictions on women’s reproductive health services, including parental consent laws for minors.
The overwhelming majority of federal funding to Planned Parenthood comes from Medicaid — 75 percent, according to a Planned Parenthood spokesman. Not all of the public funds Planned Parenthood receives are federal spending, however. While Title X is a federal program, Medicaid operates using federal and state funds.
Planned Parenthood should not receive Federal Funding. There are three reasons Planned Parenthood should not be funded by the Feds. First, their activities actually are based on a particular religious world view and the feds are forbidden from endorsing and funding any particular religion.
