What is the online patient portal?

Our Online Patient Portal facilitates better communication with our practice by providing established patients convenient and secure access 24 x 7. Although this tool is designed to be a convenient resource for our patients, it should not take the place of any important communications about your care.

How do I register a patient for the new portal?

To register a patient for the new portal, you will need the patient PIN number provided by the office via your Welcome Email. Parents will register themselves for the portal and then use the Patient PIN provided to them to add each child to their account. Each child will receive their own PIN which will be unique to that child.

What do pediatricians check at the first visit?

During the initial visit, pediatricians check infant heart functions, eyes, ears, weight, appetite and hydration. Lastly, pediatricians also check breastfed babies to confirm they are not jaundiced, are latching properly and are breastfeeding well, or are digesting formula if they are bottle fed.

What is a hospital based neonatologist?

Hospital-based neonatologists, specialists in newborn medicine, will provide care for infants during the initial hospital stay. Because neonatologists are hospital-based, they are more accessible to babies dispersed among individual rooms instead of a centralized nursery.

How long does it take for a newborn to be seen in a hospital?

Newborns will be seen by their personal pediatrician within 24-48 hours after discharge. Previously, pediatricians would examine newborns in the hospital nursery.

Can a pediatrician examine a newborn?

Previously, pediatricians would examine newborns in the hospital nursery. With the new model, pediatricians are unable to dedicate the significant increase in time to visit individual rooms around mother/baby schedules, which would reduce time available to care for patients during office visits seven days a week.
