How will Westchester Health Use my information on the patient portal?

Westchester Health will access and use your information on the Patient Portal in accordance with the Westchester Health Patient Portal Consent Form which you must complete in order to access the portal and Westchester Health’s Notice of Privacy Practices.

Is WMCHealth a registered investigator?

All physicians in the Division of Gynecologic Oncology and Robotic Surgery are registered investigators with the National Cancer Institute (NCI) and actively participate in clinical trials. Additionally, we have our own institutional research protocols. Your WMCHealth physician will be happy to help you research, identify and pursue clinical trials that could potentially benefit you.

What is chargemaster in Medicare?

The chargemaster (charge description master or CDM) is the list of all individual items and services maintained by a hospital for which the hospital has established a charge. A chargemaster rate represents the dollar amount assigned to specific medical services before application of any negotiated discounts to third-party payers. The actual hospital charges will vary based on the type of care provided, treatments, individual health conditions and other factors.

What is chargemaster information?

The chargemaster information, by itself, is not used to determine how much patients may need to pay, or to compare what a patient might owe a hospital. Your out-of-pocket costs will depend upon actual services that you receive, the hospital’s negotiated rates with your insurance plan and your insurance coverage.

How long after emergency room admission do you have to notify insurance?

Notifying Your Insurance Carrier. You are responsible for contacting your insurance carrier prior to elective admission (if required) and 24 to 48 hours after Emergency Room admittance or transfer from another hospital. Refer to your contract to ensure you adhere to the terms of your specific plan.

Does WMC include a doctor's fee?

Your bill from WMC does not include your doctor's fee nor the fees of other physician specialists, such as anesthesiologists, radiologists, pathologists or other consulting physicians to whom you may be referred by your doctor. You will receive a separate bill for services from each of them.

Does Westchester Medical Center offer financial assistance?

Financial assistance is available for patients with limited income and no health insurance. Although Westchester Medical Center’s primary service area is defined as the five counties of Westchester, Putnam, Orange, Rockland and Bronx, everyone in New York State who receives medically necessary services may be eligible for a discount if they meet certain income limits ( See Policy ). The amount of the discount varies based on your income and the size of your family. Do not be afraid to apply – you may qualify even if you work or own a home or car. Eligibility is based on the federal poverty guidelines ( English) / ( Spanish ).

Is WMCAPs included in hospital charges?

It is important for you to know that the physician services you receive in the hospital are not included in the hospital’s charges. Physicians bill for their services separately and may or may not participate in the same health plans as the hospital. You should check with the physician arranging your hospital services to determine which plans that physician participates in. Hospital contracts with WMC Advanced Physician Services, P.C.
