What is a patient portal?

A patient portal is an online tool that offers 24 hour access to a secure environment where you can access your personal health information. Once you’ve scheduled an appointment with our office, you’ll be invited via email to create an account in one of our two patient portals.

When will the Orthopedic Institute patient portal move to Athena?

Orthopedic Institute launched the Patient Portal using the Athena platform on June 15th, 2020. Physician notes from patient visits before that date did not get moved over to the new portal. For information regarding a visit to Orthopedic Institute before June 20th, 2020, please call 605-331-5890.

How many portals does orthopedic one have?

There are currently 2 portals that Orthopedic One uses. Which portal you are invited to, will be dependent on your provider. In some cases, you may be invited to both portals. The functions you use in each portal will be specific to your physician provider.

For the best experience, use the Google Chrome browser. Microsoft Internet Explorer (IE) may not be fully compatible with the patient portal.

Where is Orthopedic Institute located?

Orthopedic Institute offers excellent orthopedic care across South Dakota, Western Minnesota, and Western Iowa. Our locations and partners offer convenient access for your consultation, treatment, or surgery.

Is there a patient portal for the Athena app?

At this time, there is no patient portal, mobile app. You may find an Athena portal in the App Store, but it is not for patients and will not work. Please use your mobile browser to access the portal. Orthopedic Institute launched the Patient Portal using the Athena platform on June 15th, 2020.
