Some pregnant women develop gestational diabetes, causing raised blood sugars for mom and baby. We test for gestational diabetes between the 26th and the 28th weeks of pregnancy. If issues are discovered, we can work with mom to lower those blood sugars and keep them down, protecting the baby until birth.
When blood pressure rises in the second half of pregnancy, it’s time to keep a closer eye on things. If the blood pressure rises and the body exhibits high levels of proteins in the urine, pre-eclampsia or toxemia becomes a problem.
Any time a woman is carrying more than one fetus, it’s important to have a high-risk pregnancy specialist working closely throughout the pregnancy, so everyone stays healthy.
Sometimes during pregnancy, the cervix will begin to open before the baby is ready to be born. Left untreated, an incompetent cervix can lead to a miscarriage or premature birth.
During well-woman exams, patients can expect tailored counseling and services for family planning, long-lasting birth control options, and more. The team even has extensive experience in diagnosing and treating chronic conditions such as endometriosis, and uterine fibroids, as well as PMS and menopause symptoms.
