What is a PAC at UNC?

The mission of the UNC Family Medicine Center Patient Advisory Council (PAC) is to advise faculty and staff in their mission to develop and refine policies, practices, services and facilities to improve the healthcare experience. Many of our PAC members are also very involved in Community Health initiatives at UNC Family Medicine. What is Herb's role in Family Medicine?

Serving as a member of the Family Medicine Center’s Patient Advisory Council since its inception in 2012, Herb conveys the importance of individuality. His main concern is that the providers understand that he and other patients are individuals, who not only have different health issues, but many levels of understanding, as well as preferences for communication and treatments. He has served on the Renovation and Redesign Committee, as is currently serving on the Steering Team.

Is UNC Family Medicine a patient centered medical home?

As part of our commitment to being a certified patient-centered medical home, UNC Family Medicine works hard to include the patient voice in all activities. By providing input to faculty and staff in clinical process, research, and redesign & renovation of the Family Medicine Center, the Patient Advisory Council has made a huge impact in the department. What is family medicine?

Family medicine provides general medical care to patients of all ages. Our physicians and professional medical care teams offer the full spectrum of compassionate, family-centered care from pediatrics to adult and geriatric medicine. Our physicians conduct routine checkups, provide preventive care and manage ongoing medical conditions.

What is internal medicine?

Internal medicine focuses on the diagnosis, treatment and prevention of diseases in adults ages 18 and older. Our board-certified physicians offer exceptional internal medicine at several practices. We provide health maintenance exams as well as care for acute and chronic medical conditions such as diabetes and heart disease.

Dr. Jeffries was born in Durham and has lived most of his life in North Carolina. He graduated from Garner High School and Duke University with a B.S. in Psychology. He then had the privilege to spend a summer working in Europe and then went into the Peace Corps in Congo DRC where he lived "in paradise" for two years.

Frances is a lifetime resident of Franklin County where she resides with her 3 children. She enjoys reading and time spent with her children.

Jessica was born and raised in Long Island, New York. She received a Bachelor of Science degree in biology from the State University of New York College at Geneseo in 1997. She moved to North Carolina in 1999 to continue her education.

Rebecca was born and raised in Raleigh, North Carolina. She graduated from East Carolina University Magna Cum Laude with her Bachelors of Science in Nursing in 2012. She started her nursing career in the Pediatric Cardiac Intensive Care Unit at Duke University.

Glenda was born in Savannah, Georgia but her family relocated to her mother’s home state of North Carolina when she was a young child. She attended the University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill and obtained her BS in nursing in 1987. Glenda became certified as a nurse practitioner in 2010 upon graduating from UNC with a Master's degree in nursing.

Kathleen was born and raised in Long Island, New York. She then moved to Mammoth Lakes, CA, where she lived for the next 12 years. In 2006 Kathleen moved to North Raleigh with her two sons. She has worked in the medical field for 20+ years and joined the staff at North Raleigh Family Medicine in June of 2011.

How old is the North Raleigh Medical Center?

Welcome to the North Raleigh Medical Center. Our primary care clinic and walk-in clinic has been serving the Raleigh area for over 20 years. We see patients ages 16 and above, and manage a wide variety of medical illnesses.

When is the last urgent care patient accepted?

The last urgent care/walk-in patient is accepted 30 minutes prior to closing on any day we are open.
