Advanced Gastroenterology Diagnosis and Treatment. Northside Hospital’s Advanced Center for GI Therapeutics and leading-edge GI Endoscopy Centers give you all the advantages of the latest, most innovative procedures to diagnose and treat digestive health issues. While some services might require a hospital stay in one of our dedicated GI units, many procedures can be done …
Your gastrointestinal (GI) system is responsible for the entry and exit of food, water and nutrients. It spans from the mouth to the rectum. A few of the common GI disorders people experience include trouble swallowing, gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD), stomach pain and irritable bowel syndrome (IBS).
Digestive health specialists at Northside evaluate and treat all types of GI disorders, including: Ablation therapy for Barrett’s esophagus (BE): Barrett’s esophagus is a condition in which stomach acid backs up into your esophagus, or food pipe, and damages it. If BE is left untreated, it could cause esophageal cancer.
Routine colon cancer screenings , called colonoscopies, are one example of a common outpatient GI procedure. During this test, our doctors use a tiny video camera to look inside your colon for growths, called polyps, that might later turn into cancer. At Northside, polyps can be removed during your colonoscopy.
Esophageal pH tests: These tests use small monitors to see how often stomach acid backs up into the esophagus, and how long it stays there. EUS (endoscopic ultrasound): EUS uses high-frequency sound waves so that doctors can examine your digestive system organs to find cancer and other problems.
The procedure only takes about an hour and can deliver long-lasting relief.
At Northside Gastroenterology, we accept most major insurance companies. Please bring all insurance cards with you to every appointment. We are happy to file with your insurance, but remember that your co-pay is due at the time services are rendered. We request that you contact your insurance company to obtain benefits for services.
Because you are responsible for costs for covered healthcare services until you reach your deductible, you should comparison shop if you elect to have a nonemergency procedure.
