Nov 29, 2021 · Kaniksu Community Health has been proud to serve the veterans of North Idaho. However, our contract with The Department of Veterans Affairs expires on May 31, 2022. On April 1st, care will be transferred to a new contract provider in Bonner County. At this time, the VA is nearing completion of a contract with a qualified health care group.

Kootenai Health specializes in psychiatric and chemical dependency treatment services for individuals of all ages in north Idaho, eastern Washington, Montana and the Inland Northwest. Located in Coeur d’Alene, Idaho, our Behavioral Health program is among the largest in the state of Idaho.
Case managers and Kootenai Health’s business services department work with individuals to make financial arrangements for care. Kootenai Health is a contracted provider with many insurance companies and various state agencies. Payment arrangements can be made through the business office for services not covered by insurance.

The Northern Idaho Crisis Center is a non-profit community organization, created to help people who are having a mental health crisis or a drug or alcohol problem. The Crisis Center is a joint project between Panhandle Health District, Kootenai Health and Heritage Health. Staff members care for those that come to the center and help facilitate outside resources before each person leaves. The center is free, safe, private, and voluntary. Upon admission, an interdisciplinary assessment is conducted. Individuals receive a psychiatric evaluation, nursing assessment, physical examination and full psychosocial evaluation. Youth also receive recreational and educational assessments. Together, these are used to develop an individualized treatment plan that targets behaviors and symptoms requiring treatment.
