Med/Peds doctors see the same types of patients as Family Practice physicians. However, Med/Peds doctors receive more intensive training in Pediatrics and Internal Medicine, enabling them to provide specialized care for the whole family.

What is a high fever for a child?

If your child has a very high fever (>104ºF) If your child is inconsolable despite giving an adequate dose of a fever reducer. Fever, resulting from an infection, of ≤ 104ºF is beneficial. It helps the body fight infections, turns on the body’s immune system, and may help shorten the course of the illness.

What is the temperature of a fever?

Fever is a normal response by your body to various causes (i.e., infections, vaccines). Our group defines fever as a temperature ≥ 100.4ºF. There are many ways to take temperature including under the arm (axillary), rectally, orally, in the ear, or with a temporal scanner.

What medicine can I take to lower my child's temperature?

In most cases the anti-fever medicine (i.e., ibuprofen (Motrin, Advil) and acetaminophen (Tylenol)) will only bring the child’s temperature down 1º-2º degrees. For example, if your child has a 104ºF temperature, we expect the fever to drop to 102º-103ºF with medication.

Why is Philips recalled?

Philips has issued a voluntary recall on many of its PAP devices (Dreamstations, System 60, and M-series) due to potential health risks related to degradation of the sound abatement foam.

What are the symptoms of ozone?

They have received a low complaint rate (0.03% in 2020) of symptoms possibly related inhalation of particles or chemicals: these include headache, upper airway irritation, cough, chest pressure and sinus infection. They believe that high heat and humidity as well as the use of ozone cleaners exacerbate the problem.

Is there a timeline for replacing a recalled PAP?

They have not disclosed a timeline to repair and replace recalled devices. However, because the recall involves millions of PAP devices, it may take some time before this process is complete. You should register your device at Philips.com/src-update.

Can you stop PAP therapy?

If you have daytime symptoms that would be problematic (sleepiness, mood swings, cognitive dysfunction) or cardiovascular conditions that could be worsened by stopping PAP therapy (high blood pressure, coronary disease, irregular heart rhythms), we do NOT recommend discontinuing therapy.

Sports Pre-Participation Exam

Please print and fill out the two-page form below for sports physicals. A parent or legal guardian must fill out and sign the history questionnaire prior to the child's appointment.

DOT Physicals

Steve Sachs, PAC is certified to perform DOT physicals. Please download and complete the DOT form below. You will need to complete this and either fax it back to our clinic at 605-341-3552 or bring it with you on the day of your appointment. We are unable to see you for a DOT physical without this document completed prior to your visit.

Telephone Calls

You are welcome to call the clinic with medical questions about yourself or another clinic patient for which you are a parent or guardian. We make every effort to return phone calls by the end of the business day. Please schedule an appointment for medication requests, medication changes, and for any illness or symptom that may require treatment.

The team at Creekside Family Practice in Huntsville, Alabama, consists of five board-certified practitioners who are experts in family medicine. All our physicians have extensive training and experience in diagnosing and treating diseases in every age group, from infants to the elderly. When are masks required in Madison County?

In compliance with the order from the Madison County Health Officer, all Creekside patients will be required to wear masks when visiting our office in all public areas, including exam rooms, beginning tonight July 7th, 2020 at 5p.m. The following exceptions apply: 1) children under 2 years of age 2) persons who have difficulty breathing with a mask due to a medical condition, 3) anyone having their nasal or oral passages physically examined by a doctor in an exam room 4) when communicating with someone who is hearing impaired and must see your mouth in order to communicate.
