Who is Dr. Avalos?

Stephen M. Avalos, M.D. is a 1984 graduate of Stanford University School of Medicine. Dr. Avalos completed an Internship and Residency in Anatomic Pathology and a Fellowship in Surgical Pathology at Stanford University Medical Center. He also completed Clinical Pathology training at Santa Clara Valley Medical Center. In addition, Dr. Avalos completed a Fellowship in Forensic Pathology at the Southwestern Institute of Forensic Sciences, Dallas, Texas (Dallas County Medical Examiners Office). Dr. Avalos carries Board Certification in Anatomic and Clinical Pathology as well as Forensic Pathology and is available for consultation on medicolegal autopsies. He has been practicing pathology since 1985, and is a founding member of Pathology Associates.

Where is Dr. Taguibao?

Dr. Taguibao completed his Anatomic and Clinical Pathology residency at University of California, Irvine where he served as Chief Resident. He then completed fellowship training in Surgical Pathology (with interest in Gynecologic Pathology) at UCLA followed by fellowship in Gastrointestinal and Liver Pathology at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles. Prior to his residency training, he worked as a licensed Clinical Laboratory Scientist and served as the Laboratory Manager at the National Institute of Transplantation in Los Angeles. Dr. Taguibao is board certified in Anatomic and Clinical Pathology.

Where is Dr. Honda?

Gordon D. Honda, M.D., Ph.D. is a 1988 graduate of Tulane University School of Medicine, New Orleans, Louisiana. He is also a Doctor of Public Health, completed in 1986 at the University of California, Los Angeles School of Public Health. Dr. Honda had an Anatomic and Clinical Pathology Residency and a Surgical Pathology Fellowship at University of California, San Francisco. He was also a Clinical Instructor in Anatomic Pathology at The University of California, San Francisco. Dr. Honda is Board Certified in Anatomic and Clinical Pathology. Previous appointments include Chief of Pathology and Laboratory Director of Kaiser Permanente Medical Center, Fresno, CA. He is currently Laboratory Director for the Fresno Heart and Surgical Hospital. Dr. Honda has been practicing pathology since 1992, and joined Pathology Associates in 2000.

Where is Baorong Chen?

Baorong Chen, M.D. is a 1982 graduate of the Sun Yat-sen University of Medicine, China, where she also earned her Pathology degree in 1986. After relocating to the United States with her husband Dr. Ning Lin, an Ophthalmologist, she completed pathology residency training at Mt. Sinai Hospital in Cleveland, OH, and at Scott & White Memorial Hospital, Texas A&M. Dr. Chen is Board Certified in Anatomic & Clinical Pathology and has been practicing pathology in the US since 1993. Dr. Chen served as Staff Pathologist at Wm. Jennings Bryan Dorn VA Hospital in Colombia, SC, and also at Memorial Medical Center in Las Cruces, NM. She joined the Pathology Associates in 2003. She is in charge of the Immunohistochemistry section of Sierra Pathology Laboratory and has special interests in GI pathology and breast pathology.

Where is John Pollard?

John S. Pollard, M.D. completed a Surgical Pathology Fellowship at Loyola University Medical Center, Chicago in July, 2005. His residency training in Pathology was at The University of Texas Health Science Center, Houston, and his surgical pathology fellowship was at Loyola University of Chicago, IL. He is board certified in both Anatomic and Clinical Pathology. He is a native of Houston, and a graduate of the University of Texas Medical School and the University of Houston. Dr. Pollard joined the Pathology Associates in 2006. He is currently in charge of the molecular and genetic tests section of Sierra Pathology Laboratory.

Where is Robert Futoran?

is a 1988 graduate of UHS/The Chicago Medical School. Dr. Futoran completed an Anatomical and Clinical Pathology Residency with a Surgical Pathology Fellowship and Residency at St. John’s Mercy Medical Center, St. Louis, Missouri. He completed his training with a Cytopathology Fellowship at University of Wisconsin. He is Board Certified in Anatomic and Clinical Pathology and also holds subspecialty Board Certification in Cytopathology. Dr. Futoran is currently the Director of Cytology and Laboratory Director for Madera Community Hospital. Dr. Futoran has been practicing pathology since 1993, and joined Pathology Associates in 1996.

Who is Dr. David Slater?

David L. Slater, M.D. is a Minnesotan and 1983 graduate of The University of Minnesota School of Medicine. Dr. Slater completed his Residency in Anatomic and Clinical Pathology at the University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill. He then completed a Surgical Pathology Fellowship at the University of Minnesota. He is Board Certified in Anatomic and Clinical Pathology, Cytopathology, and Transfusion Medicine/Blood Banking. Dr. Slater currently serves as Medical Director of the Clinical Laboratory at Community Regional Medical Center. He is a member of the Community Medical Centers Board of Trustees and Vice Chair of its Professional Affairs and Quality Committee. He is on the California Society of Pathologists Board, where he serves as Secretary-Treasurer. He has been practicing Pathology since 1984, and is a founding member of Pathology Associates.
