What is the cleaning protocol for a medical exam?

Cleaning Protocol – Exam rooms and equipment will be cleaned before and after every patient. Waiting areas, bathrooms, and frequently touched surfaces will be disinfected regularly throughout the day. Magazines have been removed from waiting areas. Hand sanitizer stations are located throughout the offices including at each entrance.

Hand sanitizer stations are located throughout the offices including at each entrance. Practicing Social Distancing – Waiting area seating will be spaced out approximately 6-feet. Curbside check-in is available for patients so they can wait in their car until they are ready to be seen.

Patient Services Provided

Patients are diagnosed and treated at the Center and then referred back to the Doctor of Optometry for follow-up care.

Educational Objectives

Externs participate in diagnostic evaluation of patients are are expected to develop appropriate management plans.

Student Responsibilities

Interns will spend one day each observing cataract surgery, refractive surgery, oculoplastic, strabismic and retina surgery. Student are expected to attend all lectures provided by the OD and MD staff throughout their rotation. Weekly retina conference is held with our retina specialist that interns must also attend.
