Olympia Orthopaedic Associates provides MRI scans for identifying injuries and conditions in your body. An MRI is a harmless, noninvasive test that uses a strong magnetic field and radiofrequency waves to produce images of the inside of your body. The scans are very safe, and there is no radiation exposure.

What to wear to a medical exam?

Dress Comfortably. We recommend that you dress in comfortable clothing appropriate for your appointment. If your injury or condition involves your neck, back, spine, shoulder, or hip, you may be asked to change into a medical robe for your examination.

How early can you arrive at the office for a doctor appointment?

The time you should arrive at the office for your appointment is different than your scheduled appointment time. You may be required to complete new patient paperwork or provide personal identification and insurance information prior to being seen by your doctor. Because of this, you may be asked to arrive up to 30 minutes prior to your appointment time. Please confirm your expected arrival time when scheduling the appointment.

What to remove before X-ray?

Prior to your X-ray, you may be asked to remove jewelry, eyeglasses, and any other metal objects, such as loose change, hearing aids, underwire bras, fingernail clippers, etc., that may interfere with the imaging. Depending on the area of the body that is being X-rayed, you may be asked to change into a medical gown.

What is an emergency contact list?

An emergency contact list is a document you should have ready and keep updated regularly. Having this list with you at your appointment may provide you information you need in completing the required paperwork. A Family Member or Friend. You may consider asking another adult to accompany you to your appointment.

Is it safe to have an MRI?

The scans are very safe, and there is no radiation exposure. Preparing for an MRI scan and what to expect on your examination day: Please inform your MRI scheduling representative if you have a pacemaker, metal fragments in your eyes or body, or types of aneurysm clips and implants.

Billing Information

The professional fees in our office are carefully examined and are customary for orthopaedic surgeons in our area. We make every attempt to keep your overall medical expenses to a minimum. It is expected that copays for office visits and X-rays will be paid at the time your service is rendered.

Additional Information

You will be asked to talk with our Financial Advocate Department prior to your surgical procedure to make certain that we have appropriate insurance information for your account. The Financial Advocate Department will provide you with an estimated out of pocket expense, that we will require you to pay up front.
