If your injury or condition involves your neck, back, spine, shoulder, or hip, you may be asked to change into a medical robe for your examination. We recommend wearing loose clothing that is easy to take off and put on.
We know your appointment with your orthopedic doctor is important to you, and it can be most effective if you are prepared by having the information your doctor needs from you as well as being able to gather the information you need to receive from your doctor.
Because of this, you may be asked to arrive up to 30 minutes prior to your appointment time. Please confirm your expected arrival time when scheduling the appointment.
It is common for our doctors to see patients at several different office locations. Make sure you confirm the office location prior to leaving for your appointment. Become aware of any driving conditions, road construction detours, delays and/or parking requirements and locations that may present a delay in your arrival, and plan accordingly.
Your provider’s office will submit a referral request (available here) to NWOS by fax at 509-462-1470 (or by phone at 888-660-2663 if the referral is for an urgent appointment such as a fracture).
If your insurance plan requires a referral, as most HMO’s (Health Maintenance Organizations) do, ask your primary care provider, urgent care clinic, or the ER doctor to refer you to Northwest Orthopaedic Specialists. Some insurance plans require a written referral while others will accept a referral over the phone.
