Natera, a leading innovator in reproductive and prenatal genetic testing, today announced that the company's non-invasive prenatal screening test, Panorama™, will launch on March 1 for the detection of trisomy 21 (Down syndrome), trisomy 18 (Edwards syndrome), trisomy 13 (Patau syndrome) and select sex chromosome ...
The average calculated accuracy was 99.78 percent. Panorama is currently available for detection of trisomy 21 (Down syndrome), trisomy 13 (Patau syndrome), trisomy 18 (Edwards syndrome), and monosomy X (Turner's syndrome) using fetal cell-free DNA found in maternal blood.
Panorama screens for Down syndrome with an accuracy rate greater than 99%. Panorama is the only test that differentiates between pregnant person's and fetal DNA, which helps avoid false positives and false negatives.
Because Panorama uses a unique technology to distinguish between the pregnant person's and the baby's DNA, it is the only NIPT that tests for triploidy, and it has zero errors in clinical validations in determining the sex of the baby (optional).
If you have a positive NIPT result, your healthcare provider will likely order additional diagnostic tests. In some cases, these diagnostic tests reveal that the baby doesn't have a chromosomal abnormality after all.
What does Panorama screen for? Your health care provider will usually receive your results in five to seven calendar days.
Horizon screens for genes associated with specific inherited genetic conditions, including commonly screened conditions such as cystic fibrosis, spinal muscular atrophy, fragile X syndrome, and sickle cell anemia.
The review, which looked at 57 studies representing 6,541 pregnancies, found the blood tests gave a genuine result (sensitivity) 95% of the time and that this result was accurate or correct for gender (specificity) 98.6% of the time.
The accuracy of these tests for these conditions is very high, around 90%. But how accurate are the NIPT kits as gender reveal tests? According to clinical studies, the tests are 98-99.9% accurate. Different companies offering these kits will report varying degrees of accuracy within this range.
