All of our primary care clinics offer an after-hours phone service staffed by Michigan Medicine registered nurses. This service is offered 7 days a week, 365 days a year for established pediatric primary care patients.
An E-Visit is a convenient way to contact a Michigan Medicine provider for common, non-urgent medical conditions. You can submit a questionnaire regarding your child’s symptoms for a variety of specific conditions and receive a quick reply from a Michigan Medicine provider through the MyUofMHealth patient portal. Learn more about E-Visits.
Our after hours pediatric service boasts the same quality care as offered during regular hours. You’ll visit a dedicated pediatrician who will evaluate your child and create an individualized treatment plan.
We offer after hours pediatric services at all our locations because we know that children don’t get to choose when they get sick or injured, and working parents often have difficulty coordinating appointment times around their schedule.
How does your after hours care differ from urgent care or the emergency room? When you visit Primary Pediatrics for after hours care, you will see a dedicated pediatrician. If you visit urgent care or the emergency room, you may not be seen by a pediatrician and could be given unnecessary and costly tests.
If you’re concerned about your child’s illness or injury, we can help you determine if you should visit the emergency room. Please contact your nearest Primary Pediatrics office to speak with our nurse immediately.
While you don’t need an appointment, we recommend you call your nearest Primary Pediatrics office before arriving for after hours care. During the phone call, we will offer recommendations for at home treatment and advise if it’s necessary to come to our office.
