Does Montana Medicaid cover out of State Hospital inpatient services?

The out of-state hospital must accept you as a Montana Medicaid Member prior to you receiving services and become a Montana Medicaid or HMK Plus provider if they are not already, in order to get paid by Montana Medicaid. Otherwise, you will be responsible for payment. All out-of-state hospital inpatient services need prior authorization.

Vaccine Availability

MSU University Health Partners has the Moderna COVID-19 vaccine available, including first, second, third, and booster doses. Vaccine clinics are located in the MSU SUB on the lower floor between the Allen Yarnell Center for Student Success and Bobcat Grill. Walk-ins are welcome.

What is required for MSU?

MSU only requires documentation of two MMR (measles, mumps, and rubella) vaccinations and the Tuberculosis Screening Form. However, we recommend discussing your vaccination history and which shots you need to update with your primary care provider.

Who sign the UHP form?

If you are submitting the UHP Immunization Form as your documentation of two MMR vaccinations, it must be signed by a doctor, nurse, physician's assistant, family nurse practitioner, or other health care provider. It will also need their clinic stamp.

MSU Student Testing Center

Montana State University offers COVID-19 testing to students free of charge at its Student Testing Center, located near the northeast corner of Bobcat Stadium .

How to contact Medicaid for passport?

If you need help choosing your Passport provider or have questions regarding Passport, call the Medicaid/HMK Plus Member Help Line at 1-800-362-8312, M-F, 8am-5pm. Remember, you will need a referral (approval) from your Passport provider before you can see most other healthcare providers.

What is passport to health?

Passport to Health (Passport): Choose your primary care provider. Passport is the primary care case management ( PCCM) program for Montana Medicaid and HMK Plus members. The Passport programs support Medicaid and HMK Plus members, as well as, providers to establish a strong doctor/patient relationship and ensure the appropriate use of services.

Can you bill a provider for no show appointments?

Medicaid providers cannot bill a member for no-show/missed appointments. However, a provider may discharge a member from their practice after so many no-show/missed appointments. The provider must have the same policy for Medicaid members as non-Medicaid members, and must notify Medicaid members that the policy exists.

Some examples of services you might get in a hospital are: Emergency room services. Medical services for which your provider admits you to the hospital. Physical therapy.

Is hearing aids covered by Medicaid in Montana?

A hearing aid must be ordered by your provider. The person who sells the hearing aid must get prior authorization and be an enrolled Montana Medicaid provider. All audiology services must be referred by a physician or midlevel practitioner.
